Lenise Prater
Lenise Prater researches and teaches contemporary children’s and young adult literatures as well as genre fiction more broadly. Their most recent publication is a chapter entitled ‘Testimony from Beyond the Grave: Comparing Girls’ Narratives of Sexual Violence and Death in Gothic Fiction’ in Young Adult Gothic Fiction: Monstrous Selves/Monstrous Others (Smith and Moruzi, University of Wales Press 2021). Their current research focuses on how changing representations of trauma and mental health are manifest in contemporary fantasy fictions.
Lenise’s research interests include: fantasy and speculative fictions, genre, representations of violence and trauma, gender and sexuality in texts for young people and fairy tales.
