On Sunday, November 17th, ‘Bronze Stories: Geelong Unearthed’, a text-based public-art project designed and funded by the City of Greater Geelong, was launched at the Word for Word National Non-Fiction Festival. The project aims to unearth Geelong’s fascinating history in the rapidly modernising urban landscape of Central Geelong.

Ten stories about the Wadawurrung people, convicts, migrants, Geelong’s maritime history, the gold rush, WWI and WWII—researched and written by Associate Professor Maria Takolander—have been immortalised on bronze plaques and on an associated Geelong Arts and Cultural Trails app. Download the free app now, and follow the trail to discover all 10 amazing Bronze Stories.
