About 3BBR

The radio station was established to provide a voice for rural community activists, to provide alternative current affairs, news and views. It is a rural alternative to the mass media dominating our state and region.
3BBR stages a number of special broadcasts related to events in Bilby and the surrounding district. When major social justice events are happening, at Bendaby University or Bendalong/Bilby, 3BBR is usually the first place to listen to the full story.
Unlike almost all other media organisations in Australia, 3BBR is genuinely owned by the community – by the groups and individuals who broadcast, and by the people who listen to the station.

Finances and organisation

3BBR is financially independent, relying on memberships and donations for financial support. We do not advertise, although we do have some segments which are supported by our local businesses. We apply for government funding as one-off grants for specific projects or programs.

3BBR is owned by the Community Radio Federation Ltd., which is made up of Affiliate, Station Worker and Subscriber representatives. An elected management committee is responsible for policy development, correspondence and reports, the budget, and employment of staff.
