Supporting Twice Exceptional Students within Primary and Secondary Classrooms

TCAP HDR members reflect on the graphic recording of their projects

Working alongside artist, writer, cartoonist, graphic recorder and animator,  Sarah Firth, to create the graphic recording of my research was both a positive experience but also an opportunity to highlight the important aspects of my research that I took for granted. Sarah encapsulated the main focus areas of my research which is about recognising twice- exceptional students and the various factors that influence their identification in the classroom. In particular, how the habitus of a teacher and the present field both act to influence teacher practice, and in turn, the students’ outcomes, including the prospect of twice-exceptional students being seen, heard and supported in their learning. With these main points and the visuals that accompany Sarah’s work, I believe that I am able to further convey the aims of my research to others with confidence and to telegraph a more powerful message that highlights the importance of my research, and the impact that it has on the field of education.
