|Harassment and Discrimination Contact Officer (HDCO) New to Role part one |
This course introduces staff to the role of HDCO with the skills and knowledge to support, inform, refer and communicate effectively with staff and students about discrimination, sexual harassment, bullying and victimisation. You will gain an overview of the role, its boundaries, relevant laws, University policies and procedures as well as the opportunity to discuss the role’s challenges and how to support and refer people. On completion of the course you can join a network of over 75 HDCOs university-wide.
|Face-to-face||Staff who are new to the HDCO role. Completion of this course is a requirement prior to providing HDCO services to staff and students. Completion also enables HDCOs to attend Refresh and Update part two and other HDCO professional development.||N/A||This course is available upon request. This course updates your knowledge and skills as a HDCO to ensure you are providing an effective service to staff and students. This course covers changes in relevant laws, cases and University policies. As a forum for experienced HDCOs, it will provide an opportunity for you to discuss scenarios, common dilemmas and reflect on practice with other HDCOs.
