Senior Step Forward for Student Success

In July 2018 the UTAS Student Success Program introduced Senior Leader positions to assist with the expanding team, and increasing scope and responsibilities asked of the program. These positions provide current Student Success Leaders with the opportunity to undertake higher duties and extend their engagement with the university’s academic and professional staff. Senior Student Success Leaders assist the Coordinator with responsibilities that include:

• Reviewing and amending training materials,
• Recording staff details (training milestones, system access, etc.),
• Updating the procedural manual and online resources,
• Responding to roster amendments,
• Forging and fostering relationships with key referral partners, and
• Providing ongoing support and advice to the Student Success Leaders.

The Senior Leaders have contributed positively to the friendly, supportive environment that the program has cultivated given their physical presence and proactive team upskilling. Student Success Leaders have appreciated the guidance and leadership that Senior Leaders provide during unclear or challenging situations and engagements with students.

The assistance of the senior positions has allowed the program to focus and invest in the growing needs of the University community.
