Late Enrolment Academic Program at Deakin College

At Deakin College we have many students who are late arrivals and miss all of the Orientation information and experience as well as their first and sometimes second week’s classes. In Geelong we run LEAP (Late Enrolment Academic Program) where our Student Learning Mentors buddy with these students and go through a checklist with them, encouraging them to complete tasks and make appointments with lecturers to catch up on missed coursework. As well as being available to catch up with their LEAP students during this early stage, the Learning Mentors contact their LEAP students in  week 6, when assignments are coming in, to check how they are going, and again in week 10 to see how they are preparing for their exams.
