The annual Metro Koorie Big Day Out hosted by Toorong Marnong saw over 90 First Nations secondary school students gather at the Aboriginal Advancement League in Thornbury. The day was a chance to learn more about education opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Peoples in a collaborative and supportive environment. The NIKERI Institute represented one of the nine major universities exhibiting at the event, who showcased their diverse range of programs, curriculums, supports and more. Featuring a variety of panelists, yarning circles, dance performances and creative workshops, there was plenty for students to immerse themselves in.

Toorong Marnong allows each university to cross-promote their strengths, enabling students to understand the full range of opportunities available to them with everyone they speak with. The day saw students from multiple schools, organisations, and communities travel from across the state, creating a platform that strengthens First Nations education within Victoria
