Last week, NIKERI attended the Goolum Goolum Aboriginal Cooperative Pathways Expo 2024 in Horsham, the traditional lands of the Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia and Jupagulk people. The two-day event was one of the largest in regional Victoria for Koorie students, showcasing opportunities from education and industry leaders and to involve their local Mob to network and connect with services and pathways.
The first day saw an evening event with dinner and a smaller exhibition of stalls to allow those that could not attend the day-event an opportunity to participate. The ‘drop-in’ vibe created a casual energy to have a feed, make new connections, and learn about scholarships, education pathways, and support.
Day two was a larger event consisting of 35 exhibitors available to secondary students, KESOs, careers coordinators, elders within the region, as well as industry, education, and community leaders. An awards ceremony highlighted excellence of young Mob across various accomplishments, and young speakers to inspire and share experiences and stories.
Growing larger and larger each year, it will be excellent to see the expo continue to thrive for Mob in 2025.
