New beginnings are usually an exciting time and this is certainly the case for the new Executive Director of Deakin International John Molony.

Starting on the 11 November, John’s most recent role was as Vice President Corporate Communications at QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) the London based rankings and intelligence company. He has worked in international higher education for the last 20 years including roles at La Trobe and Macquarie Universities.
Originally from Melbourne, John says he is delighted to be back in his hometown and is looking forward to having a large family gathering for Christmas.
John sees good potential for growth at Deakin International. ‘These are exciting times in higher education and Deakin has placed itself well to continue its growth and expansion in key areas.’
Inspired by the progress and development of web based systems at Deakin, John is keen to further strengthen the University’s international branding and reputation through social media and initiatives such as Deakin’s new MOOCs (Massive Online Open Courses) platform.
‘The true impact of the internet is only now becoming apparent with the greater incorporation of advanced technologies into higher education. Deakin is placing itself at the forefront of this global trend and has great potential to extend its presence both in Australia and abroad.’
