Stories in Teaching (5): Assoc. Prof. Jacob Cybulski – Teamwork

Associate Professor Jacob Cybulski is Unit Chair for two Business Requirements Analysis units (one Masters and one undergrad). These units share a lot of ideas and some content. Both also share some of the principles, which include:

  1. No lectures, no tutes, no textbooks, but all is done in hands-on workshops
  2. Attendance is not compulsory but classes are full
  3. Readings and preparation are optional but students come prepared
  4. All work is done in teams and yet teamwork is a privilege not an obligation
  5. Plagiarism is still a no-no but collusion is encouraged
  6. Students say that they have never worked so hard but they enjoy the work
  7. We make standard achievable and excellence a habit
  8. It is all a journey of discovery for both teachers and students
  9. The classes are noisy and buzzing with excitement
  10. We teach as a team and have fun with students

Here’s Jacob’s story …
