During 1971 major road constructions developed along the northern and eastern boundaries of the site.
Throughout this year, 780 children attended the school, the lowest number in attendance was 72 whilst the maximum was 175.
A library was also established with shelving and 400 books obtained from Salvation Army School, which was also located on Elgar Road. This library included a ‘resource centre’ providing: a projector, records, maps, charts, typewriters, a cassette recorder (donated by the Royal Victorian Institute for the Blind, now Vision Australia, which was also located on Elgar Road), pottery kiln and other aids.
Excursions were arranged throughout the year to: the Airport, Planetarium, Beach, Wildlife Sanctuary, Art Gallery, Zoological Gardens, Botanical Gardens, and a farm at Beaconsfield.
