Inclusive Health Communication in SDA: Knowledge Translation
Deakin University researchers are working with Able Australia, Northcott, Inclusion Melbourne Inc. and Agosci to explore the following topics:
- What information Group Home residents and staff need to know about COVID-19 and other infectious diseases?
- What makes this information easy to access?
- What makes this information hard to access?
The Knowledge Translation Group will play an important role in the project.
What is involved in the Knowledge Translation Group?
The Group will work with the research team to help develop, review and share the final resources from the project. Over the course of 2-3 online meetings, the Knowledge Translation Group will assist the research in the following ways:
- co-designing practical resources that will help SDA (group home) providers put the research findings into action
- discussing the potential application of the project findings and resources in other industry settings (e.g., hospital and aged-care facilities) where people with intellectual disability are service users.
Who can be a member of the Knowledge Translation Group?
We are aiming to recruit 1-2 people from each of the categories below, to be part of the Group:
- SDA/Disability Group Home support workers, nurses or managers
- Hospital staff
- aged care staff
- community care/home care staff
- community health staff
- general practitioners
- infection prevention and control professionals
- SDA resident advocates/supporters.
