A gentle shrill echoes through the levels.
I can see right through your smoky façade.
We dash and fleet through empty streets.
Lights flicker fruitlessly.
Your eyes glimmer under stale fluorescence.
The tall city shadows roar.
Your hands clasp my back’s blade.
The city’s night froze.
We met on gritty cement in the parking bay.
Suddenly I understood everything.
