For busy teachers and professional staff at Deakin

This site has been developed for busy staff members by the Inclusive Education team at Deakin. So it contains lots of practical, easy-to-find information in our Inclusive Teaching Toolkit. We recommend you start in the Toolkit as it offers quick ideas and hints on a range of teaching areas, such as ‘Teaching diverse learners’, ‘Online teaching’ and ‘Enjoy group work’! All the pages are based on inclusive learning and teaching research and pedagogy. Many contain case studies and exemplars sourced from teachers here at Deakin. Key points have been highlighted and distilled for ease of use.

See also Create Accessible Content in the Toolkit for helpful quick tips on ensuring that your unit materials are formatted to be accessible and usable for all students. Teaching Support Services at a Glance is an easy find directory and overview of Deakin’s many services that will assist you in your teaching. And yes, we also have a comprehensive Glossary for any term, concept or service that is unfamiliar to you.

Other sections include Exemplars and Initiatives for those who would like to take a deeper dive into the Inclusive Education project outcomes. We also have a Community and Events page promoting Deakin’s Inclusive Education Community of Practice (CoP), which is a forum where people with an interest in providing an inclusive education can connect, support and inspire each other, whatever their levels of expertise. The Community hosts regular events, which are shaped according to the changing needs of its members.
