Respect at Deakin module

Deakin is committed to ensuring that you experience a respectful, safe and inclusive learning and work environment – regardless of how and where you’re studying. One way you can contribute to this positive culture is to do our Respect at Deakin module.

This module provides you with useful information that will help you as you navigate your personal and professional relationships at Deakin and in your future career. It explores some interesting topics, including:

  • what ‘respect’ actually means in our everyday lives
  • what diversity looks like in our community
  • why gender equality is important
  • what is a healthy relationship
  • the importance of consent in our intimate relationships.

You’ll find some practical suggestions of what you could do if you see someone being disrespectful or abusive towards another person. We’ve also included links to some helpful resources and services.

How to find and complete the module

While it’s voluntary, we encourage you to complete it during your first trimester at Deakin. You should see the ‘Respect at Deakin’ tile under ‘Course sites and useful extras’ in DeakinSync. You can click on the tile when you’re ready or access the module now.

The module comprises seven main topics and should take you about 20 minutes to complete. Once you get to the end, there’s a check box to tick, which will trigger a completion email. We’ve also included a short online evaluation survey, which we invite you to complete.
