Yady Senayda Garcia Castillo

PhD Candidate

Yady graduated with a bachelor in Chemical Engineering and a Masters in Materials Engineering at the Universidad Industrial de Santander in Colombia. At the time she was finishing her master’s, she worked as a young researcher to study the acid sites in catalysts trough Solid-State Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR).

After, she worked as a “leader teacher” for the NGO called Fundación Ceiba and the Universidad Tecnológica del Chocó. Her role was offering support and motivation to Afro-descendant communities to learn science. Last year, she was teaching Science Materials in the Universidad de Investigación y Desarrollo.

Now, she is a Ph.D. student at Deakin University in the Institute for Frontier Materials. Her current project focuses on the study of electromaterials interfaces by Solid-State NMR.
