Sobhan obtained a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (honours) degree in 2011 from K.N.Toosi University of Technology and a Master of Civil Engineering Structures in 2013 from Iran University of Science and Technology.

He is a PhD candidate under the supervision of Prof. Frank Collins, Dr. Will Gates and Prof. Abbas Kouzani.

His research focuses on developing a self-diagnosing civil infrastructure for ensuring durability. In the current study, he develops a method by which it can be possible to monitor Chloride penetration in reinforced concrete infrastructure. This is a very novel approach which can detect chloride ingress into a reinforced concrete element, both in real-time and in three dimensions (3D) and prevent corrosion before its initiation.
