Organic Ionic Plastic Crystals (OIPC) are crystalline salts, composed entirely of ions, that exhibit solid-solid phase transitions prior to melting (i.e they become increasingly disordered with temperature). This gives rise to the plastic mechanical properties of OIPCs and intrinsic ionic conductivity that makes them interesting as solid-state electrolytes.
