About Me

Hi, I’m Greg, I am a PhD student at the Institute for Frontier Materials, under the supervision of Professor Maria Forsyth, Dr John Chiefari and Dr Xiaoen Wang. I carried out my undergraduate studies in my home country at the University of Bath (UK), graduating with a Masters in Chemistry in 2019. During this time, I spent a year in industry working at the Future Industries Institute at UniSA. My master’s thesis was on the synthesis of novel zinc dithiocarbamates and phosphates.

My PhD research investigates novel polymer material for their use as electrolytes in alkali metal batteries, as part of the ARC training centre storEnergy. The project is part of a collaboration where I will synthesise the new materials at CSIRO before characterising their electrochemical properties at Deakin.

Outside of the labs, I like to stay active, playing AFL and going for long hikes on the weekends.
