At Deakin Residential Services (DRS) we have always prided ourselves on delivering outstanding student accommodation experiences within a safe, secure, and convenient environment. Never has this promise been more important.

After the events of the last twelve months, safety has taken on a whole new aspect, and we’ve all come to know the term ‘COVIDSafe’ just a little too well. At Deakin Res we introduced our now proven COVIDSafe Management Plan in the first half of 2020, well prior to Victoria’s second wave of COVID-19 and a subsequent government requirement to do so.  Covering all aspects of our ongoing operations, this plan has ensured that COVIDSafe is far more than a byword here at Deakin Res, and has played a vital role in protecting the health and wellbeing of our staff and students throughout 2020 and into 2021. 

Of course, health and wellbeing more broadly has also taken on new meaning in the last twelve months, with periods of isolation and restrictions on day to day activities impacting the lives of so many of us. Having reacted swiftly in 2020 to introduce an all new health and wellbeing model tailored for the times, our commitment to checking in regularly with each of our residents very much carries forward into the new year. 

We also know that the financial impacts of COVID-19 have negatively affected many families, and have taken steps to make sure our market leading student accommodation is more affordable than ever as we head into 2021. Always exceptional value, we decided mid last year to freeze our prices for 2021 at all locations, and in some cases actually reduced them quite significantly. We have done this to give as many Deakin students as possible the opportunity to access the safety, convenience, and outstanding experience of our market leading student accommodation as they embark on their studies in this brave new world. 

Now, safety and affordability aside, what could be more important for university students as they continue to study in a blended mode of in-person and online learning activities than high speed internet? At DRS every resident has access to not just fast internet, but the fastest internet going around, with our gigabit internet connected directly to Deakin’s network and providing speeds of up to ten times the average NBN plan.
