Mind Matters

Our preventative campaign aimed at helping you feel connected to others in our University community so you can achieve optimal mental health and wellbeing.

Mind Matters

Your mind matters, and it matters a lot! A healthy mind is just as important as a healthy body for your overall wellbeing and study success.

At Deakin, we want to talk about mental health and put it at the centre of all we do. It’s important to know that mental health is a broader concept than just dealing with any problems you may face. A person’s mental health can range from a state of thriving – feeling good and functioning well – to experiencing various mental health conditions (or mental illness), where an individual may experience symptoms that affect their thoughts, feelings, or behaviour.

As part of Deakin’s Student Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy, we are committed to improving the mental health of our students through prevention, response and continuous improvement.

'Mind Matters' is our preventative mental health campaign aimed at encouraging participation in university life, promoting connectedness and fostering an environment that both supports and enhances our current students’ mental health and wellbeing. We want to help everyone in our university community to live their happiest lives by providing our students with support to cope with feelings of stress and to achieve their academic goals.
