Get to know your Library during Orientation
If you’re just starting your studies with Deakin, welcome to your first study period! And if you’ve already commenced your degree but this is your first chance to spend time on campus, we look forward to meeting you!
No matter where you’re studying, there are loads of ways you can get to know your Library in your first few weeks at uni.
Commencing students, explore your Library
Join the online ‘Explore your Library’ session, 10–11am, Wednesday 1 July, where you’ll discover the best way to approach your studies and learn all you need to know about the Library programs, services and activities. Your Library offers a range of services, including live Library Chat, to ensure study from home is just as easy.
In this session, find out how to:
- navigate key parts of the Library website
- search and access free digital and print resources
- borrow, return and request items
- access course materials and subject-specific guides.

Don’t worry if you miss a live session, you can watch the recording on UniStart (undergraduate students) or Preparing to Succeed (postgraduate students) in your own time.
Get help with your tech set up

In the first few weeks of T2, Student TechAssist service is available for one-on-one assistance with your tech setup including, CloudDeakin/D2L, multi-factor authentication, wi-fi/Eduroam log in, printing queries and basic Microsoft support. This is an on-demand student-led service at the Library service desk.
TechAssist will be available during OWeek, Week 1 and Week 2 from 10am-5pm Monday – Friday
Look for the Student TechAssist banner at your campus Library service desk. Our team of friendly Deakin students will be wearing grey aprons and blue lanyards, with tablets and laptops at the ready to help you out! No appointment needed.
Tour your Library
Each campus Library is unique – full of group study spaces, comfy seats and powered desks, computers, printers and scanners, book collections and much more. Guided tours of your campus Library are available on demand – just speak to staff at the service desk. Tours are a great way for you to get to know the spaces in your Library, as well as ask any questions you might have.
You can also take a virtual tour of our Australian Library campuses on our website to see what’s available!
Access our free online resources
When researching for an assessment, if you find resources that appear to be locked behind a paywall, the Library can help you access them for free. Make sure you search for resources on Library Search and add the LibKey Nomad browser extension to access free full text resources, and if you still can’t access what you need, contact us and we’ll find it for you.
Check out an exhibition
Through the Library’s Exhibitions program, the Deakin community can explore the many ideas that shape our university. Exhibitions are free, open to students and the public, and offer a chance to experience the Library as more than just a study space.
