Win big in the International Business Case Competition
Deakin Business students, are you a high achiever and skilled problem-solver? Take on the world by tackling real-life business problems as part of the Wing Lung Bank International Institute for Business Development (IIBD) International Case Competition 2026!
Co-organised by the HKBU School of Business, Hong Kong Baptist University and Thammasat University this popular competition features top students from universities around the globe. Teams chosen for the finals will travel to Thailand in November to compete against other universities from around the globe.
The 2026 theme is ‘Ethical AI for Sustainable Business Growth’.
One team of four students from the Deakin Business School will be entered, so this is an opportunity for you to make your mark!
How it works
The team will comprise four current Deakin Business school students, who will be mentored by an academic. The timeline for the competition is:
- Friday 8 May: EOI applications due 5pm (this includes a video upload)
- Monday 11 May: Team shortlisting (Zoom interviews may be required)
- Wednesday 13 May: Team announced
- Monday 15 June: First Round Case assigned 1pm – team starts work on report, 24 hours to submit
- Tuesday 16 June: Team submits First Round Case by 1pm
- Tuesday 1 September: Finalists teams announced
- 4–7 November: Finalist teams compete in Thailand
The winning team scores US$1700 and a trophy.
Who’s eligible
- You must be currently enrolled Deakin Business School students and be a current student at the time of the finals in November 2026.
- You will need to be available in June to work on the First Round Report (due 16 June) and for the finals on 4–7 November.
- The team will comprise three undergraduate students and one postgraduate student.
Why you should enter
Over a thousand high-calibre business students from leading institutions around the world have participated in this competition, which is a unique learning platform for university students to apply their knowledge, critical thinking, and creativity to solve real-life business issues. It also provides a great opportunity for students to network with other participating teams and industry professionals from across the globe.
The Faculty of Business and Law will cover the return flights from Australia to Thailand, and the Hong Kong Baptist University will provide free accommodation from 4–7 November 2026 for each finalist team.

- Complete and submit the Expression of interest form by 5pm 8 May 2026. You are required to provide your resume and a 30 second video outlining why you should be selected for this competition.
