Self care isn’t selfish – take a moment for yourself this DUSA Self Care Week

Welcome to the final weeks of Trimester 1! We know this is a busy time as you prepare for final assessments, but it’s just as important to take regular breaks and look after your mental, emotional and physical wellbeing. A little time to recharge can make a big difference.

Whatever self-care looks like for you, DUSA’s Self Care Week (Monday 4–Friday 8 May) is here to help. We’ve got a bunch of fun and relaxing events lined up to help you de-stress and reset before end-of-unit assessments kick in.

Some events require registration, so we know how many people are joining us.

Burwood

Good for the Sole (Social Run) | Monday 4 May, 4.30pm, meet outside Building HE/HD
Take a break with the Deakin Runners Club! Join us for a relaxed social run around campus – all paces welcome. It’s a fun way to get moving, meet people and enjoy the fresh air.

Beats & Eats | Tuesday 5 May, 11.30am–1.30pm, Morgan’s Walk (or Student Central Building HE if it rains)
Join us on campus to treat yourself – there’s so much to do! Grab some free food, enjoy live music and student performances. This is the perfect opportunity to relax and connect with others. Oh, and guess who’s dropping by? The Delta Therapy Dogs and yes, you can cuddle them! 🐕 Our student leaders and the DUSA Crew can’t wait to see you there.

Hot Sip Social | Wednesday 6 and Thursday 7 May, 10.30–12.30pm, meet on Morgan’s Walk (Student Central if raining)
A relaxed session with good company, light refreshments and activities including photo frame decorating, letter writing to your future self, a nail polish bar, and bracelet making.

Sewing Activation| Wednesday 6 May, 1.30–3pm, Morgan’s Walk (Student Central if raining)
Join us for a fun and educational session where our DUSA reps will teach you some sewing essentials! It’s a great chance to learn a valuable life skill while getting to know your Deakin community. We’d love to see you there!

Waurn Ponds

Beats & Eats | Tuesday 5 May, 11.30am–1.30pm, Union Green (or DUSA lounge if it rains)
Join us on campus to treat yourself – there’s so much to do! Grab some free food, enjoy live music and student performances. This is the perfect opportunity to relax and connect with others. The Delta Therapy Dogs will be there too, waiting for a cuddle! 🐕 Our student leaders and the DUSA Crew can’t wait to see you there.

Hot Sip Social | Thursday 7 May, 10.30am–12.30pm, DUSA Lounge
Come along to our Hot Sip Social as part of Self Care Week. It’ll be a relaxed session with good company, light refreshments, games and more! With free hot drinks and biscuits on offer, it’s a great chance to take a break and connect with your Deakin community.

DUSA Games Night | Tuesday 12 May, 7.30–10.30pm, Hopkins River Cafe
Join us for an evening of laughs and friendly competition with a live DJ, great food, and a line up of games to keep you entertained all night. Whether you’re a games master or just in it for the vibes, everyone is welcome! General admission $10, DUSA Gold Members $5. Register now

True North Taster | Monday 4 May, 1–2pm
Inspiring guided session to help you reconnect with who you really are beneath expectations and self-doubt. Through simple mindset tools and powerful self-discovery prompts, you’ll explore your values, understand your needs and tap into the inner compass that leads you toward a more aligned, intentional life. Trivia and Tranquillity | Tuesday 5 May, 5–6pm
Get ready to test your knowledge and compete for the top spot in our Online Trivia showdown! We’ll be covering a mix of fun topics from pop culture and general knowledge and you can do it all from the comfort of home or a location that suits you! Register for this free event

Mature Age Student Mix & Mingle | Thursday 7 May, 5.30–6.30pm
If you’re a mature age student, join our online Mix and Mingle to connect with others on a similar journey. It’s a relaxed space to share experiences, ask questions and build your uni network. Register for this free event
