Thinking about studying abroad in Trimester 1 2027? A trimester exchange program offers an exciting chance to immerse yourself in a new culture and gain fresh academic perspectives while growing personally and professionally.
On trimester exchange, you’ll spend one or two trimesters studying at one of Deakin’s 150 partner universities around the world.
How to apply
The Deakin Abroad application portal is now open until Wednesday 15 July 2026.
Before you apply you’ll need to attend a compulsory Deakin Abroad trimester exchange information session outlining the available programs, funding and eligibility requirements.
You’ll then also need to book an initial exchange appointment with a Student Central Student Adviser to discuss your eligibility and outgoing study plan before the deadline of Friday 12 June 2026.

- 1 x €6235 EUR grant for a student applying to Aarhus University in
Denmark. - 1 x $12,500 AUD Charles Qin Scholarship for a student applying to East
China Normal University - 1 x $6000 AUD HB Europe Exchange Enrichment Scholarship for a
student studying Business or Commerce in Europe. - $10,000 AUD New Colombo Plan mobility grants available for select host
universities in Asia - 1 x $1500 CAD grant available for McMaster University in Canada
- OS-HELP loans are available for eligible domestic students to help cover
travel expenses like flights and accommodation- $10,103 AUD for students studying in one of Asia’s 26 eligible

Eligibility
To be eligible to join a trimester exchange program:
- if you’re an undergraduate student, you should have completed at least 8 Deakin credit points towards your Deakin degree prior to departure.
- if you’re a postgraduate student, you should have completed at least 4 Deakin credit points towards your Deakin degree prior to departure.
- you’ll need to have a full-time study load of 3–4 Deakin credit points while on exchange, to meet Deakin and your host university’s requirements.
- You should have a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 60 – some discretion may be applied, contact the Deakin Abroad team at education-abroad@deakin.edu.au to discuss if applicable.
