- demonstrate the range and depth of your reading through referencing
- enable a reader to find the sources referred to in your assessments
- support and strengthen your argument through correct citation
- demonstrate academic integrity.
Please be advised Deakin’s Australian Harvard style guide has now been retired. From Trimester 1, 2026, students will be required to use a different author-date style (e.g. APA7 or Chicago’s author-date style). Guidance will be given by units on acceptable style/s.
