Fusion Festival is back! Celebrate our cultural diversity with free food and live music
Deakin students come from all walks of life and from all around the world, this diversity is one of our greatest strengths.
Fusion Festival celebrates the richness of our diverse cultures, faiths and perspectives, bringing our community together through story‑telling, music, dance, food, art and creative expression. The festival reflects our commitment to belonging, wellbeing and safety, aligning with Harmony Week as a time to honour inclusion and the strength of our multicultural community. It also supports our Indigenous Strategy through meaningful recognition of First Nations stories, cultures and truth‑telling.
A cultural experience
Celebrate the rich tastes and traditions of cultures from around the world. Enjoy a vibrant program of live multicultural music and dance, FREE global cuisine and hands-on activities. Add your voice to the Kindness Wall pledging your support for inclusiveness, kindness and harmony.
Enjoy the energy of Japanese and African drummers, the colour and rhythm of Bollywood dancers, and powerful performances from Indigenous artists. Explore our interactive activities such as henna body art, origami and calligraphy. You can immerse yourself in the celebration of culture, creativity and community at Fusion Festival.

How to enter
Submit your favourite song using the form below and we’ll add it to our Spotify playlist. You’ve got until 12pm on Friday 13 March to tell us your go-to tune.
Songs with explicit references or profanity will be excluded from the final playlist, so keep it clean!

Information on how to enter forms part of these Terms and conditions. By entering, entrants agree to be bound by these Terms and conditions and entries must comply with these Terms and Conditions to be valid.
This competition is governed by the laws in force in the state of Victoria, Australia.
The competition
The competition is open exclusively to current Deakin students enrolled either on campus or online. Offshore students are not eligible to participate.
Students must also complete and submit an entry in the manner set out in the Terms and conditions.
The competition is free to enter.
Entrants may only enter the competition once.
Staff employed by Deakin and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter the competition.
Competition period
The competition period is from 9am (EST) Wednesday 4 March 2026 to 12pm EST Friday 13 March 2026. Entries received outside this period will not be eligible.
Prizes
There will be a prize pool of one (1) set of JBL TUNE 770 Noise Cancelling headphones (Black) valued at AUD $149.
The total value of the prize is AUD $149.
How to enter
To enter the competition, eligible students must submit a song to the Global Playlist during the competition period.
Provide their valid Deakin student email address in the competition submission form. The Deakin student email address provided will be the primary method of contact for the winner.
Incomplete or invalid entries will not be accepted.
Selection and notification of winner
All eligible entries received during the competition period will be entered into a random draw.
The winner will be drawn at random.
The draw will take place within five (5) business days of the competition closing date at Deakin University.
The winner will be notified by their Deakin email and published on the Deakin Life blog on Monday 23 March 2026.
If the winner does not respond within seven (7) days of notification, Deakin University reserves the right to conduct a redraw.
The winner will be able to collect their prize from the campus of their choice or nominate an address for it to be sent via registered mail.
Prizes are not transferable and are not redeemable for cash. Deakin’s decision is final and binding – no correspondence will be entered into. Deakin accepts no responsibility for late, lost or misdirected entries or other communications. Entries will be deemed void if forged, manipulated or tampered with in any way.
Privacy collection, use and disclosure statement
Personal information provided to Deakin University by entrants will be used to notify the winner of the competition. A photograph of the winners may be published on Deakin University’s social media channels including Facebook, TikTok, WordPress and Instagram and other digital channels such as the Deakin Life blog.
Deakin University complies with the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic) in its treatment of personal information. Entrants have a right to access their personal information held by the University. Requests for access to personal information are managed under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic).
Food brings people together, so we want you to share a taste of home! You’re invited to submit a favourite recipe from your homeland which will be added to Nourished @ Deakin. Whether it’s a cherished family dish or a cultural classic you love, we want to celebrate the diversity of flavours across our community.
How to enter
Submit your recipe to go in the draw to WIN The Cooks Collective Asian Dumpling Making Kit valued at $59.95 and a $100Woolworths e-Voucher— and help others discover the food that feels like home. Entries close 5pm Friday 20 March.
