Deakin Business students, do you love a challenge? Apply to compete against Nottingham Business School

Do you love a challenge? Are you experienced in analysing, evaluating and presenting your findings? Are you keen to meet other students, make connections and compete internationally? If you answered yes to these questions, the Business Challenge – Deakin v Nottingham, is the event for you.

Through an expression of interest process, Deakin Business School will select two teams of four Deakin Business School undergraduate students to compete against two teams of Nottingham Business School students.

The challenge

The challenge is to evaluate the launch of a Sports Direct flagship store in either Melbourne or Sydney, supported by a $1 million AUD budget. The final output is a professional presentation of no more than 10 slides, including an appendix. Teams will:

  • Analyse Australia’s sports retail market
  • Complete a SWOT + competitor analysis
  • Create a differentiation positioning map
  • Justify their chosen launch city
  • Allocate the $1M launch + marketing budget
  • Build an integrated media plan with KPIs
  • Define Sports Direct’s USP in Australia

Eligibility

To be eligible for this challenge, you must be a current Deakin Business School undergraduate (Bachelor) students.

Deakin Business School will select eight high achieving students to fill two Deakin Business School teams with two students waitlisted to manage contingencies.

As part of your application, you are required to upload a resume, a 30 second video outlining why you should be selected for this competition and explain in 200 words or less the expertise you bring to the challenge. Applicants will be contacted by 11 March to confirm teams and next steps..
