Driving to campus this trimester? Find out how to park quickly and easily at Deakin
The start of the new study period is nearly here! Travelling to campus by public or active transport is a great way to start the day – but if you think you’ll need to drive to uni, make sure you know how to pay for parking ahead of time so you don’t end up with a parking fine.
Parking on campus
Parking is available at all campuses, including accessible parking. Check out our campus maps for specific parking locations. As a student, you are able to park in white general parking bays and the blue Park and Go bays on the Waurn Ponds Campus.
Australian campuses
- Burwood: all parking at Burwood is paid permit parking.
- Waurn Ponds: there is paid permit parking, along with limited free parking in the blue Park and Go bays in Car Park 3, which connect to the free intercampus bus that runs between Waurn Ponds and Waterfront campuses throughout the day. Please note that as of 10 February 2026, the intercampus shuttle bus stop at Waterfront is being relocated temporarily due to construction.
- Waterfront: all student parking at Waterfront is paid permit parking via OPark. The Multideck Carpark at Waterfront Campus is positioned between Brougham Street and Smythe Street, next to Waterfront Student Accommodation. The car park has electric vehicle charging stations and the gym.
- Warrnambool: you can park for free in any of the white bays.

How to apply for a long-term parking permit
As a Deakin student, you can purchase a long-term parking permit, valid at the Burwood and Waurn Ponds campuses for 120 days or 365 days from the date of purchase, via the vPermit website. To register, you’ll need your vehicle registration and a valid credit card. Once registered, you can manage the vehicles listed on your vPermit through the vPermit app.
As a Deakin student vPermit holder, you can park in ‘General’ permit zones which are the white-lined spaces, at the Burwood and Waurn Ponds campuses.

Use short-term parking with OPark
OPark is Deakin’s short-term parking permit solution.
To park using OPark, you will need to download the app from either Google Play or the Apple Store on your device and register to set up your account including adding your vehicle registration. For the Waterfront Campus only, you need to have your OPark account affiliated with Deakin University and your Deakin ID number entered.
- Once you have registered, remember to start your OPark permit session whenever you park on campus. Also remember to stop your OPark permit session when you leave so that you only pay for the time your vehicle is parked.
