Continuing the commitment against gender-based violence at Deakin
We want to thank everyone who took part in Deakin’s 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, whether you walked in solidarity, joined a conversation, attended a workshop, or simply reflected on how to promote respect and equality in your everyday life.
The campaign may be over, but the work continues.
Human Rights Day
Human Rights Day was on Wednesday 10 December, a reminder to us all that everyone deserves to live free from violence, discrimination, and fear. It’s a day to reaffirm our commitment to building communities where safety, dignity, and equality is reality for all.
Stay involved
At Deakin, we’re committed to supporting students beyond the campaign period.
There are many ways to stay involved:
- Start conversations in your communities about gender norms, equality and respectful relationships. Check out Respect Victoria’s website for tips and tricks.
- If you hadn’t yet had the chance, complete your Respect, Belong, Thrive at Deakin module, available in CloudDeakin, to learn more about respectful relationships, bystander intervention and the support services available at Deakin.
- You can find out more information about Deakin’s respect and gender-based violence program of work.
If you’re looking for more ways to get involved, need support or resources, we encourage you to reach out to the Equity and Inclusion team. We’re here to help you take action, build knowledge, and create change. Email Equity and Inclusion – respectbelongthrive@deakin.edu.au.
