Connect with your peers this RUOK? Day – plus win prizes at Trivia Night!

Have you heard? A conversation could change a life, and sometimes one of the best thing you can do in a conversation is just be there, and listen.

R U OK? Day (Thursday 11 September) is more than just a date on the calendar – it’s a national reminder to check in with the people around us and ask the question that could change a life: “R U OK?”

Sometimes starting the conversation feels like the hardest part – but you don’t have to figure it out alone. Need tips on what to say and where to find extra help? Visit Deakin’s R U OK? Day webpage for simple steps, conversation starters and wellbeing resources.

University life can be exciting but also overwhelming. Study pressure, new environments, homesickness, or personal struggles can sometimes leave friends or peers feeling a little “off”. So ask, “R U OK?”  not just today, but any day.

Connect, play and win at our ‘Day in the Life’ Trivia Night

Remember, you’re not alone

You don’t need to be an expert or hold special qualifications to ask, ‘R U OK?’ – it’s something everyone can do.

If a conversation ever feels too big for friends or family to handle alone, professional help is just a call or click away. However, some conversations may be too big for friends and family to take on alone. That’s why it’s important to encourage people who are struggling to connect with expert support.

If you or someone you know needs help, reach out to Deakin’s Counselling and Psychological Support (CAPS) service for a free and confidential appointment, or contact Beyond Blue or Headspace.

You can access more support services and information via Deakin’s R U OK? Day webpage.
