Would you like to be part of the team delivering awesome Orientation and social events for other Deakin students – and get paid at the same time?
Here’s your chance to apply for a casual paid role as a Student Experience Assistant. You’ll help to ensure that all Deakin students have a great experience at uni – from the start of their journey during Orientation right through to graduation!
As a Student Experience Assistant, you’ll take on leadership responsibilities, guiding Student Experience Ambassadors during events and activities. Your role will involve supporting the delivery of diverse engagement initiatives such as Orientation and participating in student-focused activities like focus groups and design workshops.
The Student Experience program is part of Deakin’s Students as Partners framework and approach. The role includes opportunities for both paid casual work, as well as non-paid partnership opportunities such as participation in focus groups, design workshops or planning committees.
Student Experience Assistants 🙋
As a Student Experience Assistant, you can expect to:
- be paid as a HEW 3 Casual ($44.04 per hour)
- undertake approximately 100 hours of work per year (subject to your availability)
- help new students to make a successful start to life at Deakin by supporting the delivery of both online and on-campus Orientation activities
- lead the delivery of student engagement initiatives, including on-campus and online events and activations
- be involved, as a Student Partner, in focus groups, design workshops, planning committees and other partnership activities to help create, deliver and evaluate student engagement initiatives and programs
- provide other administrative and logistical support as required.
Who we’re looking for 🔍
You’re a current Deakin student who…
- will be studying and available to work during Trimester 1 and Trimester 2 2026
- currently holds or has previously held a student ambassador role (paid or unpaid) on campus
- has good knowledge of Deakin’s campuses and services
- is enthusiastic, approachable, motivated and reliable
- has strong communication and interpersonal skills
- currently holds or can obtain a current Working with Children Check
Casual work opportunities fluctuate and will peak during the University’s key intake periods, with positions available at our Burwood, Warrnambool and Geelong campuses. Occasionally, you may need to work during evening or weekend events.
