Join us for a tree-peat performance at our second Waurn Ponds Campus Tree Planting Day

Looking to get some fresh air in nature alongside great people? We once again invite you to join us, on Friday 8 August, for our second Planting Day at Waurn Ponds Campus for the year!

Help build on the fantastic efforts of volunteer students and staff planting over 5000 plants and shrubs around the Waurn Ponds Creek for our previous Tree Planting Day on 2 July.

We’ll continue planting to expand the habitat along the creek, supporting our beloved critically endangered Swift Parrots and vulnerable Yarra Pygmy Perches.

The Victorian Government’s Green links grants have been making this year’s planting possible.

When and where to meet

When: Friday 8 August 2025, 8.30am – 12.30pm

Where: please meet at Jarvis Oval near the Waurn Ponds Deakin Cricket Club (see map below)

About Tree Planting Day

Over the last 50 years, the Deakin community of staff and students has helped convert the bare, agricultural landscape at Waurn Ponds into the lush campus environment we enjoy today. This year, we welcome you to again support our 2025 and 2030 commitments – to enhance biodiversity in priority locations – and ensure Deakin is playing its part in the transition to a more sustainable world.
