Passionate about mental wellbeing? Help us design the new Mind Matters look!

Love a good brainstorm and shaping things that matter? You’re exactly who we’re looking for!

Mind Matters is Deakin’s preventative mental health campaign, designed to build a connected, compassionate uni community where every student can thrive. Through events, stories and creativity, we aim to spark conversations and support you to live your happiest, healthiest uni life. Whether you’re chasing study goals or personal ones, we’re here to remind you that support is always available.

Our amazing Wellbeing Ambassadors help shape and deliver the campaign, making sure it reflects real student voices and experiences.

Each trimester, Mind Matters Week takes over Week 4 – a chance to pause, connect and recharge. T2 Mind Matters, from 28 July to 1 August will feature acoustic music, therapy dogs, mindfulness giveaways, trivia and creative self-care in the mix.

This year we’re giving Mind Matters a glow-up – and we want your help!

To keep things fresh, relevant and student-led, we’re refreshing the Mind Matters logo – and we want it to reflect the imagination and voices of the students it’s made for. Our goal? A design that’s visually appealing, easy to recognise, and aligned with Deakin’s style – while staying uniquely student-friendly.

We’re inviting up to 10 students to take part in a 2-hour interactive online workshop to help shape the new look.

What you’ll do in the workshop:

After the workshop, the Student Communications team will develop several draft logo concepts based on your ideas. You’ll be invited back to vote on your favourite – and the top two designs will go to a Deakin-wide student vote, with the winning design revealed at the launch of T3 Mind Matters Week.

Who can join?

No design experience? No problem. This isn’t a graphic design competition – it’s a creative collaboration!

You just need to:

Keen to participate?

Submit your EOI using the form below by 11.59pm, Sunday 20 July.

We’re capping the workshop at 10 students (first in, best dressed), but will accept up to 20 EOIs in case of dropouts.

Get amongst the Mind Matters magic this trimester

Even if you’re not joining the workshop, we’d love to see you at a Mind Matters event this trimester! It’s a great way to unwind, meet others, and connect with support in a way that suits you.

Join us from 28 July to 1 August for a week of feel-good experiences—think therapy dogs in the library, mindfulness freebies, our student art exhibition, free yoga, trivia and more!
