Building B at Burwood is being refurbished: here’s what you need to know
You may have noticed we’ve been making improvements to Building B at Burwood Campus over the last few months, and we’re pleased to announce Stage 1 has now been completed on schedule – right in time to welcome you back for Trimester 2.
These changes have been made to better accommodate student and teaching needs, including more open spaces to enable discussion, collaboration and project work, so you can enjoy the best learning experience possible.
What’s new in Building B
The improvements to Levels 0, 1, 2 and 3 include:
- Upgrades of the teaching and learning spaces to support inclusive, functional and collaborative environments.
- Refurbishments of Lecture Theatre 3 (B1.77) and Lecture Theatre 11 (B1.20).
- Workspace upgrades for the Disability Resource Centre (now on Level 2).
- Uplifts to the design and functional aspects of general areas including tea points, amenities and furniture.
We’re continuing improvements this year
We will commence Stage 2 of planned improvements to Levels 2 and 4 of Building B soon, with a planned completion date around early 2026. These uplifts will further enhance teaching and learning spaces and help us reach our wider sustainability goals.
While we will do our best to minimise disruptions, please follow any signage outlining safety instructions regarding the works, and keep an eye on your unit sites in case any information about alternative spaces for your learning activities is communicated by your Unit Chair.
If you do need alternative study spaces in Building B during these works, you can access:
- L1.08
- HE2.011
- LB2.307
- LB2.309.
Do you need advice?
- Keep an eye on your unit sites. If you have a scheduled learning activity on campus that may be affected by the Stage 2 works, your Unit Chair may advise you of alternative teaching and learning spaces to attend in the meantime.
- If your on-campus learning activities are affected by the works and you’re not sure where to attend, or for any general questions, ask Student Central.
- Improvements to the new learning spaces include enhanced access to power sources to enable you and your fellow students to use your personal laptops. However, if you have previously accessed desktop computers in past learning activities, you can start preparing for T2 now by checking the operating system on your personal laptop is up to date and contacting IT for support if you need it.
Stay tuned for more updates about what you can expect to see in the new-and-improved Building B at Burwood Campus – we look forward to welcoming you there soon!
