The Geelong Pride Film Festival (GPFF) is back for its eighth year running from Thursday 1 May to Sunday 11 May 2025.
The GPFF is a non-profit community run festival screening contemporary and classic LGBTQIA+ films in Geelong. Now one of the largest regional LGBTQIA+ film festivals in Australia, this year includes a diverse mix of short films, feature films, and documentaries from across Australia and around the world.
Register now to secure complimentary passes
As a Proud Bronze Sponsor of the festival, Deakin has a select number of complementary passes for staff and students to access one or two feature films or short packages. You can choose cinema screenings (excluding opening night) at Platform Arts theater in Central Geelong or The Pivotonian Cinema in South Geelong.
The passes can also be used to redeem tickets to the Melbourne Rainbow Band performance.

Melbourne Rainbow Band performance
The passes can also be used to redeem tickets to a special performance by the Melbourne Rainbow Band at the Platform Arts theatre at 1.30pm on Saturday 3 May.
The Melbourne Rainbow Band is Australia’s only large format LGBTIQA+ concert band. With over 60 members, the band is excited to be bringing a concert full of their favourite music from the silver screen to a special concert in Geelong.

Join our Deakin Pride Network
The LGBTIQ+ Pride Network is a member-led network, designed to provide community, social support, and a safe and welcoming space for LGBTIQ+ staff, students and allies. Join a DUSA club
- At Burwood Campus, you can join the Deakin Pride; Queer Society, a club for LGBTIQ+, Queer or Questioning students and allies to meet and socialise.
- At the Geelong Waurn Ponds and Waterfront campuses, you can join the Deakin Geelong Queer Collective. The Collective is here to run a safe, inclusive and social group for anyone who identifies as either LGBTQIA+ or an Ally.
IDAHOBIT
International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) is on Saturday 17 May. IDAHOBIT aims to raise awareness, promote acceptance and stand against discrimination faced by the LGBTQIA+ community. Check out IDAHOBIT 2025 for resources, information, and ways to get involved.
