Meet our 2025 Deakin Alumni Award winners—and submit your 2026 nominations

Deakin graduates have been changing the world for 50 years. Where do you see yourself once you complete your Deakin studies? Meet our 2025 Deakin Alumni Award recipients and be inspired by what they’re achieving in their careers and the difference they’re making in their communities.

The Alumni Awards started in 2011 to acknowledge the outstanding work Deakin graduates have shown in their chosen fields, as well as their valuable contributions to the University and wider communities – locally and globally.

This year’s awards honoured eight past students who are shaping their industries, driving innovation and creating meaningful change.

They celebrated their achievements at an awards ceremony in Melbourne on Wednesday 2 April. The evening was led by Master of Ceremonies, alum and past Alumni Award recipient, dual Australian Olympian and former professional cyclist, Tracey Gaudry, and attended by many including Deakin’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Iain Martin and Chancellor Mr John Stanhope AM, who is also a Deakin alum and past award recipient.

The greatest impact that Deakin has created in the past 50 years is our graduates and their achievements. We are so proud of the accomplishments of all our more than 350 thousand alumni.
– Professor Iain Martin, Vice-Chancellor

In presenting the recipients with their awards, Chancellor Stanhope highlighted the significant impact Deakin graduates are making in their communities, industries and to Deakin.

As I say in my graduation address to our newly minted alumni: “A student’s graduation is not a point of departure from our University; it is merely a milestone in a lifelong partnership of learning and progress.” So many Deakin graduates return for further study, or to work as educators, as researchers, as professional staff, as leaders and as volunteers … Others employ our graduates, mentor students or connect as industry partners ... Alumni are indeed an important part of our community.
– Mr John Stanhope AM, Chancellor
