Meet Paul, your 2025 DUSA President
Say hello to Paul Ting, your new Deakin University Student Association (DUSA) President!
As the leader of the DUSA Student Council, Paul—along with his team of elected student representatives—is dedicated to making your university experience better. From shaping campus culture to working with the University on student-related matters, they’re here to support and advocate for you.
You may not always see it, but the Student Council is constantly working behind the scenes to bring about real change. They’ve influenced key policies, such as revising census and withdrawal dates, while also securing practical benefits like parking permit refunds, on-campus Library IT support, and 24/7 library access towards the end of each study period to make student life a little easier.
Now, let’s get to know Paul as he shares more about himself and his goals for DUSA in 2025!
Hey everyone! My name is Paul and I’m your DUSA President for 2025! I’m a fourth-year Bachelor of Commerce/Law student and I’ve been part of DUSA since my very first year—first as the Burwood Campus Coordinator before stepping up as Vice President – Education. I’m so excited to represent you all this year!
My friends would tell you I’m super passionate about everything I do. People who know me describe me as upbeat and approachable, always happy to talk about literally anything. In my free time, you can find me at at live music events, sipping a bubble tea or out in the middle of nowhere on a camping trip.
I’ve always been dedicated to making student life better here at Deakin. In my time as Vice-President – Education, I pushed for some important changes, like the new IT Tech Assist Program, mandatory consent training, and even helped set up Deakin’s very first Disability Room. I’ve always had a passion to support my peers and I look forward to representing you all this year!
DUSA is the perfect place for students to create real change. I’m all about getting stuck in and making things happen. Whether through the student council, as a club executive, or as a DUSA Crew volunteer, DUSA empowers students to make a difference. In 2024, I was President of the Deakin Enviro Club (DENVIRO), and we had an epic year—raising almost $10K for charity and becoming one of the biggest clubs on campus. I want to help anyone reach their potential and I think DUSA is the perfect place to start.
In 2025, I want DUSA to make your uni experience even better. Whether it’s helping you make your first friend, supporting you when things get tough, or pushing for a truly 24/7 Library to make your uni life easier, we’ve got your back!
I’m here to listen to what matters most to you. I’ll be your voice at Deakin University to drive real change.
Come and say hi! I’m always on campus and at heaps of events, so if you see me, let’s chat (and maybe grab a bubble tea)!
