This Women’s Health Week, connect and be inspired by stories from influential women
We all know our health and wellbeing is vitally important, but it’s so easy to let self-care and other positive habits slide when life gets busy – and it’s no secret that many females tend to put the needs of their loved ones ahead of themselves!
This coming Women’s Health Week, running from 2–6 September, we want to shine a spotlight on health and wellbeing topics relevant to all women, girls and gender-diverse people. Women’s health can be complicated and females experience a range of unique health concerns that can be accompanied by a lot of assumptions, misinformation and even stigma which can stem from misunderstanding.
The theme for Women’s Health Week 2024 is Your Voice. Your choice, and is aimed at supporting all women to advocate for themselves and make informed and healthy decisions with information that is easy to understand.
Hear more from these inspiring women
You’re invited to join us on campus or online for a special panel discussion with some amazing women from Deakin and the wider community.
Hosted by one of our student Wellbeing Ambassadors, Supraja Srinivasan, the panel will share their lived experiences as they talk about how they maintain a balance between achieving their study and career goals while also making time for their health and wellbeing. Our speakers include (from left):
- Melda Ceylanbas – DUSA Women’s Representative and Politics, Economics and Philosophy student at Deakin
- Jo Weston – Professional netballer and elite-athlete student at Deakin
- Tessa Caramia – Sexual Health Educator, Sexual Health Victoria
- Dr Sue Reddish – One of our valued resident doctors at Deakin Medical Centre Burwood.
