Are you an international student who is new to Deakin this trimester?
Meet us at Melbourne Zoo for a fun afternoon with your fellow international students! We’d love you to join us for a day of sightseeing and close encounters with the many fascinating creatures who live there. Housing more than 320 species, Melbourne Zoo is a must-see destination for all who share a love of the animal kingdom.
This Campus & Beyond event is being held as part of our Connect program, which means entry is free but you must register below as spots are limited.
Please note you will need to make your own way to and from Melbourne Zoo.
Food will not be provided, so please remember to purchase or bring your own lunch and snacks.
Once you are granted free entry, you can begin your self-guided tour of the zoo, led and supported by our friendly Student Experience Officers.

Information on how to enter forms part of these Terms and Conditions. By entering, entrants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and entries must comply with these Terms and Conditions to be valid.
This competition is governed by the laws in force in the state of Victoria, Australia.
The competition
The competition is free to enter and is strictly only open to current international students studying at Deakin.
Entrants may only enter the competition once.
Staff employed by Deakin and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter the competition.
Competition period
The competition period is from Friday 19 April 2024. Students must attend the Melbourne Zoo trip event by 2pm to be eligible to win.
Prizes
The prize is one single-year adult Zoos Victoria membership, valued at $138.
How to enter
Students must register for the Melbourne Zoo Trip event via Target Connect. Links to register will be promoted via Deakin Life social media, the Deakin Life blog and on the International Student Connect program Deakin University website.
Students must then attend and successfully ‘check in’ at the event using a QR code provided by a Student Experience Officer and/or Student Experience Ambassador.
Students will write their name on a piece of paper to enter into the competition draw.
Students must be present during the name-draw to be eligible for the prize.
Selection and notification of winner
The prize recipient will be randomly drawn by Student Experience Officer and/or Student Experience Ambassador at 3.45pm on Friday 19 April at the Melbourne Zoo.
The winner will be notified on the spot and will provide their student number and best email address to the Student Experience Officer and/or Student Experience Ambassador.
The membership will then be purchased and emailed to the winner by 5pm on Monday 29 April 2024.
Prizes are not transferrable and are not redeemable for cash. Deakin’s decision is final and binding – no correspondence will be entered into. Deakin accepts no responsibility for late, lost or misdirected entries or other communications. Entries will be deemed void if forged, manipulated or tampered with in any way.
Entrants consent to Deakin using their name, image or voice for promotional purposes. Entrants agree to make themselves available for a photograph and interview if theirs is the winning entry and if requested by Deakin.
Prize recipients consent to their name and photograph being published on Deakin social media and other digital channels if requested to in all forms as determined by the Student Communications Team in Student Services.
Privacy collection, use and disclosure statement
Personal information provided to Deakin University by entrants will be used to notify the winner of the competition. A photograph of the winners may be published on Deakin University’s social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, WordPress and Instagram and other digital channels such as the Deakin Life blog.
Deakin University complies with the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic) in its treatment of personal information. Entrants have a right to access their personal information held by the University. Requests for access to personal information are managed under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic).
