The Hult Prize Deakin OnCampus Program qualifiers have been announced!

We are excited to congratulate the FoodProtect team for being the winners of the Hult Prize Deakin OnCampus Program qualifiers round.

The team includes students Agnes Mukurumbira (PhD, CASS), Akansha Gupta (PhD, CASS) and Penny Thew (Honours, CASS) with mentorship from Dr. Snehal Jadhav, Andrew Howarth, Wan Sin Heng, Dr. Sam Tavassoli and Greg Teh. Their company, FoodProtect, is developing a sustainable device that will reduce food spoilage in households.

What is the Hult Prize?

The Hult Prize is an annual social entrepreneurship competition that challenges university students to develop innovative solutions to pressing global issues. The year-long competition aims to inspire young entrepreneurs to create scalable and sustainable business ventures that address significant social challenges for a chance to receive USD$1,000,000 in funding.

The theme for the 2023/2024 challenge is ‘UNLIMITED’.

The next round

FoodProtect will next move on to the semi-final summit round of the competition in June. Hosted in 12 cities around the world, teams will pitch their ideas to a panel of experts.

Six teams will then be chosen to attend a global final in September held in the UK to determine which team wins the USD$1,000,000 prize.
