The Vice-Chancellor’s Alumni Awards started in 2011 to acknowledge the outstanding work Deakin graduates have shown in their chosen fields, as well as their valuable contributions to the University and wider communities – locally and globally.
This year, ten past students have been recognised in two categories for their contributions and their incredible work in both paid and voluntary capacities.
Graduates celebrated their achievement at an awards ceremony held on Wednesday 6 March at Deakin Downtown, led by Master of Ceremonies alum and past Alumni Award recipient Tracey Gaudry and attended by many, including Deakin’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Iain Martin.
Our graduates are an enormous part of our ongoing success story, and we are incredibly proud of their accomplishments. In our 50th year as a University what could be more pertinent than celebrating their success and the impact they have made.

Deakin’s Chancellor, Mr John Stanhope AM, also attended the event and highlighted the significant impact Deakin graduates are making in their industries and communities.
Our alumni community represents the richness and complexity of Deakin – their careers exemplify the positive impact that talented and dedicated individuals can make. Every day, Deakin graduates are making a difference in the world as leaders in their professions, in industry, commerce, in government and in their communities.

Each award recipient received a trophy designed by Jatin Goyal, who came to Deakin as an international student studying the Master of Architecture. The Alumni Awards trophy is designed by students each year, becoming a unique, impactful and meaningful piece of art for recipients.
