Happy Harmony Day! Celebrate with us at a Respect at Uni Week event
Today is national Harmony Day (Thursday 21 March) – part of the annual Harmony Week (Monday 18–Sunday 24 March 2024) during which we reflect on and celebrate our diversity.
Australia is pretty special: we’re home to the world’s oldest continuous living cultures as well as people from more than 200 countries, with over seven million people in Australia being born overseas. That makes us one of the most culturally and linguistically diverse populations in the world.
And thinking beyond just cultural differences, Harmony Day and the overarching Harmony Week is all about embracing inclusiveness and a sense of belonging for everyone, no matter what your background may be. It’s a nationwide celebration of respect for all of us who call Australia home.
Likewise at Deakin, we all belong. We are proud of our diverse community, and we value the different perspectives each of us bring to the University.
Join us for Respect at Uni Week
Harmony Week coincides with the annual Respect at Uni Week (Monday 18–Friday 22 March 2024), a joint initiative between Victorian universities to promote the importance of respect, inclusion, and the prevention of sexual harm in our campuses, online spaces, and broader communities.
We’ve still got some great events happening online and on campus as we approach the end of the week, so join us as we reflect on what respect means, how we can extend respect to others, and have some fun!
Visit the Respect at Uni Week webpage for full event details.
Last chance to submit your song to our Global Playlist!
There’s still time to share a tune to feature in our Global Playlist – tell us your favourite track from around the world and go in the draw to win one of two Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 Instant Cameras with 60 film pack worth $159! Entries close at 5pm tomorrow, Friday 22 March.
