Waterfront Campus construction works to impact Smythe Street and parking access

If you drive to Waterfront Campus, or are planning to visit, please be aware that traffic conditions and parking access along Smythe Street will be impacted in the coming weeks and months by construction activity from the Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre (GCEC).

A timeline of vehicle access changes.

Smythe Street closure

Smythe Street will be closed and have no vehicle access, including to the Multideck Carpark (CP2) and the open-air carpark (CP3), on Saturday 16 March, Sunday 17 March and Saturday 13 April

Traffic controllers will be onsite to assist vehicles to exit the carparks as required, but no entry will be permitted.

The underground carpark (CP1) at Building D will be available for you to use via Brougham Street between 7am and 10pm, as alternative parking during these dates. Orange bays can be utilised by all VPermit and CellOPark users on this occasion.

Pedestrian access from Brougham Street to CP2 and CP3 will remain unaffected.

Smythe St access changes.

Smythe Street will become one way from Wednesday 13 March

From Wednesday 13 March 2024 until October 2025, Smythe Street will only allow one way traffic in the direction from Cavendish Street to Gheringhap Street. During this time, you will be unable to turn into Smythe Street from Gheringhap Street.

Signage and barriers will be installed in preparation for the change of traffic conditions and traffic controllers will be onsite to assist vehicles in detouring.
