Help Deakin reach carbon neutrality by 2025!

Sustainability is a core value of Deakin. We care about our shared future and incorporating sustainability into everything we do. As part of this, Deakin has committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2025. As a major cause of climate change, there has never been a more crucial time to focus on energy and reducing Deakin’s operational emissions.

Along with our planned projects, the Carbon Neutral 2025 (CN2025) team would love to hear from you! If you’ve seen anything while at Deakin you feel might be wasting electricity, or have any ideas on how to save energy, submit them to our feedback form.

What is carbon neutrality?

Being carbon neutral means that Deakin will reduce our energy consumption on campus, replace aging building infrastructure that is consuming fossil fuels, transition to using 100% renewable electricity by 2025 and expand our program of carbon offsetting to balance the amount of carbon emissions we put into the atmosphere with the amount we take away.

How can it be achieved?

To accomplish carbon neutrality, our CN2025 team has been hard at work planning and executing projects around six key areas that are expected to reduce emissions by 14,000 tonnes. These areas include:
