Deakin students shine in Diamonds’ win over England in Nations Cup
Congratulations to Deakin elite-athlete students and Australian Diamonds stars Jo Weston and Liz Watson (pictured with former student and teammate Kate Moloney, left) who have been crowned Nations Cup champions in Leeds over the weekend!
With a stellar performance which has once again solidified the squad’s world-leading status, the Diamonds defeated the England Roses with a whopping 20-goal lead to secure their 69–49 win over one of their biggest rivals.
Captain Liz Watson, who is studying a Bachelor of Education – Primary at Deakin, and Jo Weston, who is studying a Master of Communication, were spurred on by an enthusiastic crowd but were, as always, gracious in their absolute dominance over their opponents from the first quarter in the final.
Congratulations to Liz and Jo on yet another amazing performance!
