Join our international student cricket match and score free Big Bash tickets!

Are you an international student based at Burwood or Geelong? Here’s an event you won’t want to miss!

Cricket season is upon us as we head into the warmer months, so we encourage you to join the DeakinACTIVE team for a fun ‘Come and Try’ afternoon cricket match – it’s a perfect opportunity to meet and connect with other international students at Deakin, and this is a friendly match so all skill levels are welcome. We’ll also include a free ticket for you to see a Big Bash League game afterwards!

This Campus & Beyond event is being held as part of our CONNECT program, which means everything is free and arranged for you. All you have to do is bring along a smile and get ready to make some new friends!

Join our ‘Come and Try’ afternoon cricket match at 3pm on Wednesday 13 December at the Burwood Campus, before we head into town via tram to see the Melbourne Stars Men take on the Perth Scorchers at the iconic MCG. Relax and enjoy the pre-match festivities and action before the game begins at 7.15pm. You will also receive a free pie, in true Aussie style! Hurry though – places are filling fast and you must register below.

You can catch a bus from either the Waterfront or Waurn Ponds Campus to GMHBA Stadium on 10 December, or make your own way there. Please note this event has multiple dates and you will need to register for both events below.

There are so many great ways to CONNECT!

Our CONNECT program gives you lots of opportunities, including free health checks, Come and Try sport sessions, community events and wellbeing workshops. If this is your first trimester as an international student at Deakin, we encourage you to try as many activities as possible – you’ll make new friends, practise your English skills, explore your campus, discover Deakin’s support services and learn about Australian culture.
