Deakin students help secure another Constellation Cup win for the Diamonds
Congratulations to Deakin elite-athlete students and Australian Diamonds stars Kate Moloney, Jo Weston and Liz Watson (pictured) who have once again been crowned Constellation Cup champions for an eleventh time!
Representing the Diamonds in the annual trans-Tasman netball series, the Diamonds were defeated 53–50 by their New Zealand rivals in the nail-biting fourth and final Test match but were able to reclaim the title on aggregate points.
Captain Liz Watson, who is studying a Bachelor of Education – Primary, reflected on the team’s series victory in light of their challenging finals against the ever-formidable Silver Ferns.
‘It’s been a pretty special year for us, obviously very exciting but, we’re obviously disappointed with our last two games,’ she said. ‘We’re extremely proud that we are able to keep this Cup – it’s something that we’ve worked really hard for.’
Congratulations to Liz, Kate and Jo on yet another amazing performance!
