Founded in the US in 1919, Beta Alpha Psi currently boasts over 300 chapters and 300,000 members worldwide. Deakin is one of nine universities in Australia to host a chapter.
Joining Deakin’s BAP chapter opens doors to exclusive platforms and offers experiences that transcend the classroom and prepare you for a robust career ahead.
Meet some Deakin BAP members taking on the world!
Deakin BAP members Nathan Notley (Deakin BAP President) and Kayur Parshotam (Deakin BAP Partnerships Director) recently attended the 2023 BAP Annual Meeting in the United States, along with their faculty adviser Dr Xikai Chen.
With a theme of ‘Reimagining the Path Forward’, the meeting was a festival of ideas, collaboration and innovation, designed to enhance soft skills, increase networking capabilities and share frontline knowledge. Highlights included:
Project Run With It (PRWI)
Students were challenged to develop creative solutions to issues faced by non-profit organisations in Nevada. Kayur (pictured far right in his team photo) was part of a group who created a tech-savvy solution using AI and VR to help a facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
This hands-on experience was not only rewarding but also cultivated a strong foundation for teamwork and innovation, essential skills for thriving in today’s dynamic job market.
Participating in PRWI truly challenged me intellectually and strengthened my ability to manage deadlines. But more than that, it was a chance to make a real difference in people’s lives.
— Kayur Parshotam
Networking with industry giants
Being part of the Deakin delegation at the meeting catapults you into a vibrant network of industry giants – Kayur and Nathan honed their professional acumen through engaging sessions facilitated by industry giants like the Institute of Management Accountants and Deloitte US. An exciting online event between Deakin BAP and Ohio University BAP is already in the works, thanks to the connections made at the conference.
